When our boys were young you may have spent a lot of time teaching them be quiet. They may have been loud and messy and rambunctious. As they age you may find yourself noticing one day that the house is painfully quiet and once you figure out why, you may be wishing for the moments when the words would flow freely again. To move past the typical answers they give (yes, no, nothing, fine), here are 25 questions to ask to get the words flowing again. along with helpful tips to keep the conversation going.

  8. If you could change one thing about our home, what would you change?
  9. What is something people call a sport but you don’t think it is a sport at all?
  10. What is something I still do that makes you feel childish and you hope I stop doing it one day?
  11. Who is one person you did not want to see at school today?
  12. When you don’t want to talk about something, but you know deep down that you need to talk about it, what should I do to help the conversation happen?
